May Athlete of the Month: Rachel Morse
How and when did you discover CrossFit?
I started Crossfit 10 Months ago because of my friend Micah. At the time I was running and doing body weight moves but needed to start lifting and maybe toss some tires. I was INSANELY nervous to come in for my intro but fell in love after that. Thank for being “punny” coach Molly !
How has CrossFit affected you since you started?
When I first came in I was really lacking muscle. I struggled to even hold my knees up while hanging from the bar and had no upper body strength. CrossFit fully changed how I viewed exercise and my progress with health. As a woman its been so nice to focus on strength instead of calorie burn and has changed my body image. We push through really hard things everyday at the gym and our bodies adapt and grow. I remember Stephan telling me when I first started that it all transfers over to how we go throughout our day and wow has it.
Also 100% the people I have met since day one. I have always felt so welcomed here and am grateful for the friendships I have made.
What class do you normally attend?
5:30 AM baby. Part of the morning crazies and holy moly if you had told me a year ago I would be doing that I would have laughed at you. CAW CAW
What are your short and long term goals?
Short term I really want to work on structure and form of Cleans and Snatches. Long term I want to get better with gymnastic movements. I love all of those and can not wait to work myself up to it!
What’s your favorite WOD/movement?
Anything involving Burpees …. Devils Press!
What’s your LEAST favorite WOD/movement?
Double unders … I guess add that to the goal list 🙂
What is one interesting fact many people don’t know about you?
I worked with clay and metals and had a jewelry business for a while. I would love to start doing that again.
