May Athlete of the Month: Dan Coffey

How and when did you discover CrossFit?
After a lifetime of running, I was looking for something different and fun. Have a buddy who had been working out at Frontrange Crossfit in Denver and got me looking around. Traveling for work, I’d drop into work outs at different boxes (2009ish)…hooked, it was fun.
How has CrossFit affected you since you started?
I Xfit so I can keep up with my kids. We hockey at our house, hike, bike, ski…name it. EvrPrvn has supported all of these. The coaches here are the best I’ve seen, period. The programming is challenging, scalable, and professional, we are truly blessed. Crossfit has put me into a position to excel/maintain/keep up with all of life’s activities that we get after…cheers to the push!
What class do you normally attend?
RNZ…Rona Noon Zoom! And when life is normal whenever normal allows…love the flexibility here at EvrPrvn!
What are your short and long term goals?
Short term goal: to not finish last on the “for time” WOD’s and Long Term goal: to get comfortable being uncomfortable…to finish first in one of the “for time” WOD’s
What’s your favorite WOD/movement?
Always loved chipper work outs that have a strategy component; partner Cindy (with Dr Forbes was always a favorite.) Murph is number 1, the emotional and physical grind is undeniable…Merica!
What’s your LEAST favorite WOD/movement?
Like all athletes, I welcome the challenge to work on movements that may not focus on my strengths. Having coaches who challenge me to get out of my comfort zone has always been a Crossfit draw. I’m challenged every-time I walk into the Box and look forward to all the movements, embrace the suck…I hate the pre-workout stretch.
What is one interesting fact many people don’t know about you?
Love spending time outdoors. I’ve soloed all of the VT/NH/ME 4k’s, currently repeating them with my family.
