November Athlete of the Month: Brian Snow

How and when did you discover CrossFit?
One of my close friends from college credited CrossFit with a radical transformation to his fitness and overall health. In October of 2017, when I had finally neglected my own nutrition and fitness to the point that it was no longer acceptable, it was natural for me to want to find CrossFit, even though I had zero idea what it was about.
How has CrossFit affected you since you started?
CrossFit has made me stronger and also helped me lose a bunch of weight but one of the best moments was when I squatted at home while I was wearing jeans and I tore them open.
What class do you normally attend?
I regularly attend the 12:00 class.
What are your short and long term goals?
My short term goals are completing all Open workouts this year, a marathon row on December 28th, perform a handstand push-up on my birthday in April, and have an overall “Grizzly” rating on Beyond The Whiteboard (60th over percentile and above) by the same date. Long term. I want to be able to Rx all of the Open workouts at the next Open and complete Murph in 2020 with a weight vest.
What’s your favorite WOD/movement?
Burpees. As soon as I learned to love burpees, they became easier and that is a lesson I have been able to apply to many things inside and outside of this sport.
What’s your LEAST favorite WOD/movement?

Rope climbs. I can’t stop dreading them. Some days I can do them, other days you would think that the rope was covered in lubricant.

What is one interesting fact many people don’t know about you?
I can confidently identify the artist and song title for just about any 90’s alternative one hit wonder with the three first notes.
